Abigail Tisch (Investor at RRE) on climate tech and capital limitations

  • Venture is not a “one-size-fits-all” field. VC is applied intuition, and this allows different people to prosper in different roles.
  • In banking and law, there are a handful of characteristics that make you good at your job. You cannot say the same about being a successful VC.
  • A good venture model is not risky, has a low capital requirement, and will achieve returns in a relatively quick timeline. Climate tech companies do not meet any of these requirements.
  • More supply chain transparency = more sustainable practices
  • Women’s health has a misclassification problem. At the end of the day, it is a human health problem.
  • Content is different than brand. Brand is necessary; content is not.
  • What is your value system? If you cannot answer this, you need to reevaluate your priorities.
