Finding a legal firm with deep construction experience

One of our portfolio companies is looking for a good legal firm with deep construction experience that can help them structure their terms and marketplace so they arenโ€™t carrying a huge amount of liability on these jobs - anyone have a recommendation?
  • Alice: There may be a bunch of other things to consider when it comes to finding a lawyer for construction — what market vertical, size of projects, types of contractors, what products are in the marketplace, what scopes of work does it impact, etc.
  • One lawyer that comes to mind that may make sense is https://www.hansonbridgett.com/ who has been leading the efforts on BIM/IPD in the industry and they should have experience with construction tech and software as it relates to the contractor. DLA Piper and Cooley are lawyers that have worked w/ a lot of construction tech startups.
  • You can also reach out to https://www.documentcrunch.com/index.php (ConTech startup founded by a previous construction lawyer) and see if he may have some recommendations. Lmk if I can help in any way! [We are a built world focused fund and I used to work in the construction industry.]
  • Max Abram: Goodwin has a proptech practice merging folks from RE transaction and tech transaction teams. May be helpful here. https://www.goodwinlaw.com/minisites/proptech
